Would You Like to Help

DID YOU KNOW?

Throughout the world 28 children die every minute from illnesses related to waterborne disease.

The existing water holesIn Asia, Africa, Latin America and other developing areas, people have little access to clear, fresh, safe drinking water.

Women and children often spend hours each day carrying water from distant and polluted sources - water that makes their families sick.

Without clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities, millions of kids are too sick to go to school, their parents too sick to work.

Without financial and technological help, more than 14 million people will die in the next 12 months for lack of good water to drink, wash and cook with.

Your Donations at Work.jpg (17094 bytes)You can do something to change this tragic situation through Water for People.

Water for People is a nonprofit organization providing technical know-how, financial assistance, and education about safe drinking water and sanitation to people in desperate need. Established in 1991 by dedicated water professionals from the American Water Works Association, Water for People projects provide a precious gift . . . . . clean, safe, drinkable water.

Water for People’s success spans the globe helping people in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. Whether drilling a well that serves 50 people or assisting in the management of a water treatment system for a large city, Water for People projects not only provide safe drinking water and sanitation, but educate people about good health and build on people’s basic desire to help themselves.

NORTH CAROLINA WATER FOR PEOPLEValley near San Lorenzo.jpg (37156 bytes)

The North Carolina Section of Water for People is a committee of the National Water for People. The country we focus on is Bolivia, in South America. Bolivia is landlocked, desolate in places, magnificently beautiful in other areas, and one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. Where there is water, it is generally polluted and in the arid Altiplano, you have a desert at 13,000 feet above sea level.

A LITTLE CAN MEAN SO MUCH. . . . .

No fund raiser or contribution is too small. All of your efforts will help Water for People provide assistance to those who need it most. The North Carolina Section of Water for People needs your help and will gratefully acknowledge any donations.
