We first demonstrated to the community the workings of the Dosatron. We took a liter container and made a batch solution of the concentrated chlorine. We then added measured spoonfuls of the batch solution to a 10-gallon bucket. We did this to simulate the Dosatron operation, which adds one part chlorine batch solution to 1250 parts of water. We also demonstrated how to measure chlorine residual using the Hach colorimeters. The community members were very excited about the project and quickly learned how to make batch chlorine solution and measure chlorine residual. Leaders were selected in each community to take responsibility for the project; however almost all of the community members were around watching the project come to fruition and participating in the colorimeter readings.
