NC Water For People Worktrip 2001
Dosatron Pilot Project
In late summer 2001, two NC Water for People representatives, Julie Godin and Dennis Ash, spent several weeks in Bolivia developing a pilot project to provide drinking water chlorination to areas where electric powered pumps are not practical. The trip, as usual, was a combination of field work, diplomacy, exploration and, of course, fun. Here is Julie's report:
The 2001 work trip involved installing Dosatrons in two communities near Cochabamba. Dosatrons are chlorinators that operate on a pressure differential without the need for electricity. NCWFP donated two Dosatrons and one years supply of chlorine to each community. The communities selected were Huaycha Pata and Koari Medio.
